A synthetic phenomenon, these nylon pipes transcend the boundaries of fashion, a safe yet startling, show-stopping bet. A fail-safe so poignantly simple and sexy, it would be a crime for it not to debut in any clothes horses closet. I for one cannot bear to remember how monotonous existence was before the conception of the 'wonder-pant'. My own, well loved/worn pair reside in a desperate need of replacement (NOTE RECENT RED AND BLUE VERSIONS - instant 70's disco queen vibe) with the classic telltale sign of tiny white worms of elastic, snaking in and around the crotch, much to my personal and peers dismay/disgust. It was only natural that such a inspirational design of epic proportions (up in the ranks with the Bauhaus Wassily chair, the Dyson hoover and the wheel - in my humble opinion) would grace the pixels of my first post, my hope being to dissect and exalt to Valhalla the secret to the formula which embodies trouser perfection.
My first notion - Transcend style boundaries? How? The fact is, anything you put alongside these babies will look fabulous and create a rather darling ensemble, no matter how conservative or Gareth Pugh-esque it may be (damn, they look hot on their own, why need a top when your bottoms steal the show?). The breakdown - firstly, they are black. Black is stylish. Black is slimming. Black is timeless. Black is back (well, on our backsides). The not-so-secret antidote it covets is the ability to tuck in any bizarre bodily abnormalities to a horrifying degree (do not be alarmed if you can't get them on without gratuitous force, this is normal), yet retaining a crazy amount of flexibility - what is AA's secret to multitasking?. Adding the nipped in high waist and butt-bouncing pockets on the derrière, and you have a modern day miracle. Shirt, dress, your boyfriends blazer, a pert set of breasts - whatever you choose to pair it with will work with aplomb.
My favorite addition to the trousers is a classic, white, men's dinner shirt. Tucked in at the front, forming cotton ripples down your back, its a look that will not just transcend fashion, but time itself. In this economical climate we now live in, we cannot afford to be decadent in every aspect of our day to day life, trends come and go, but the disco pant is for life. Who says you cant be frugal and fabulous?

ReplyDeleteThe holy trinity of neutrals! I know, i've always been a black addict, recently I tried to break out and try brights, I've diverted back to the dark.
ReplyDeleteThe American Apparel Disco Pant is a superb copy of an iconic club wear staple of the 70’s and 80’s. I bought these Xmas 2009 for my 2 adult nieces and the girls wore them to go Clubbing in Las Vegas just days later hitting a number of the top nightclubs. Both of them gave these Disco Pant(s) very enthusiastic thumbs up and found them to be really comfortable too. Teh store had a discount on 3 pairs but my nieces wear the same size and share clothes all the time so it was OK got them the black, blue and charcoal ones. I’d rate the colors available as Best- Black which is classic, 2nd Midnight Blue is stunning in person, 3rd Charcoal which is a silver grey metallic color, 4th red -bright think Long Beach Grand Prix, and 5th is purple, unusual cool urban look. Made in the USA adds to their value for some of us. You can find on line coupons to save at American Apparel.
ReplyDeleteThese definately let you ladies exercise your wow power consider them for clubbing, that Vegas trip or just making the guys drool when out shopping. As jean cut pants they are made from a rare heavy weight spandex that’s much, much heavier than say regular leggings. Their heavy weight weave and high quality make them very forgiving of small to moderate body detriments; as this fabric has a great smoothing / slimming effect to produce a super figure for many wearers. The fabric breathes making them cooler and more comfy than most leather, faux leather or PVC jeans. They stretch and give a bit which helps with comfort and allowing one to move easily which is good for dancing or being active better than the aforementioned leather or pvc. The Disco Pant is washable, use delicates & line dry. All of the colors have a very cool shiny quality that turns up the “Wow Power” of a woman’s figure. It all adds up to great looks. My nieces said you can put together a wide variety of looks from Festive to Sophisticated to Edgy. Pairing with high heels re-enforces the hot look, while the daring will go with boots. It still is the higher the boot, the greater edginess, but you could go with ankle boots, knee high, over the knee, or I added even with thigh high boots. At maximum mesmerizing impact, droves of hapless men will come over and babble silly stuff just to talk to you. (Think of the money you’ll save on drinks!)
THeir historic! These are extremely faithful reproductions of the "Shiny Spandex Disco Jeans" with the detail of two pockets on the back side. Shiny Spandex Disco Jeans were originally introduced in the late 1970's quickly becoming a top disco club wear staple. Later in the 1980's the Heavy Metal bands and fans take to these as both stage and club wear also to be seen in film and TV regularly.
I am happy to see them, they are fun, cool and really spicy hot looking, I’d go as far as to say -give them a try.
